Question

Issue with original data remaining stored in Forms

I set up some simple forms for users to complete (with editable fields). These were originally Word documents converted into Forms using Adobe Pro. These forms are set up on a website as simple links (no programming involved).

1. A user opens up the form from the website, enters the detail and save the file.

2. That same user then opens up a new form using the link within the website.

3. They complete new details and 'save us' under a new customer name (for example).

4. If they then open that file (3 above) the inforamtion stored within the file reverts back to the inforamtion initially entered in 1. above.

Can anybody help?

Thanks,

Paul

Sounds like the user is mixing up the file names. A forms saved under different names are different, completely separate files. They do not share data in any way, unless some mechanism is setup for that purpose.

Are you sure the users filled out the form in Adobe Reader? Or was it in the browser? Have you examined a user system to see both saved files? Have you been able to repeat the process?

Hi Thom,

Thanks for your reply.

I have tested what the user has told me myself and can confirm that their experience mirrors mine. To access the PDF form they click on a link within our website (Umbraco). When the form opens it appears blank. They complete their detials, save. If they then open up this new saved file do they realise that the information they've put it has reverted back to information submitted at an earlier point (for example for me it's information I put into the form approx 2 days ago). It's bizarre to say the least.

If you open and amend the form (for example it it is sent via email) then all changes are saved. For example I directly opened the PDF, entered basic information and saved as test 1, test 2 and test 3. Everything worked perfectly.

So I can only summise that it's something to do with the link via the website?

Does the user fill the form online or in Acrobat Reader?
