Question

Keep getting .tmp files when saving PDFs as "Optimized PDF"

When I save an existing PDF as 'Optimized' to reduce the file size and either saving as a new file or saving over original file it saves the PDF but it also saves as .tmp file for some odd reason. Sometimes the tmp files disappears after sometimes it doesn't and I have to go in and delete the tmp files manually.

Example of tmp file name is "A9Rotchml_1gc1em5_3s4.tmp"

Any idea how to prevent this?

OS: Windows 7 Pro

Adobe: Acrobat XI version 11.0.23 (latest update)

Scanner: HP ScanJet Pro 3000 s3

Thanks,

Frank

Hi Frank,

Sorry for the delayed response.

Could you please confirm if you are trying to save "scanned pdf" as optimized pdf? Or a normal pdf (not a scanned one)?

Does the .tmp file you mentioned above - A9Rotc......3s4.tmp or similar to this one, gets created in temp folder when you launch Acrobat only (not saving pdf as optimized pdf)?

Try rebooting the machine if you haven't already and check if that helps. If that doesn't work, repair Acrobat using "Repair Acrobat Installation" under Help menu, reboot the machine and check.

Thank You,

Shivam
