Merging 2 pages of ONE PDF file into one page

Hi,

I have a PDF document, containing about 30 pages. On most of the pages, only the top 10 cm contains text. Is it possible to remove the page breaks between page 1 and 2, so combine these pages to one single page?

I have seen some cutting functionality, but that only makes the page smaller. I still can't merge page 1 and 2 into one single page.

Any help is welcome!

    Hi Steve, I have started inDesign, but I'm afraid I'm going to ask a lot of question about that. It seems pretty complicated. First problem I'm running into is that I can't read PDF-files. I didn't find any function to read or import a PDF file.

    @David, I'm running MacOS. Maybe there is some way to do this on a Mac (doesn't printing 2-up scale the original document? I want to keep the orginal size and just cut some white space of the pages)

    @Sabian: I will have a look at Quite Imposing. I don't know that sofware package (yet).

    In InDesign, you don't "read" or "import" a PDF. The term used in page layout applications is to "place. You're placing them as a graphic on the page.

    Choose File > Place. If you check Show Import Options, you have the option to place individual pages or ranges of pages, and choose how they will be cropped.

    After placing, you can crop the PDF pages in InDesign by dragging the bounding box handles (the handles which surround the PDF, which is treated like a graphic).

    After placing and cropping your PDFs, choose File > Export > Adobe PDF (in CS5 or 6, choose File > Export > Adobe PDF (Print) to create a new PDF. You can choose between different PDF presets. Consult InDesign Help for more information or ask in the InDesign forum.

    Hey can i do this in Android, if yes then please explain how??

    The Adobe Mobile Reader (either iOS or Android) provides no such functionality. You would need Acrobat Pro DC on either MacOS or Windows to perform such operations.

    Over the web there're some online sites like pdfmerge.com,  combinepdf.com, etc. where you can merge or combine PDF pages as according to your choice.Try to check this sites.

    I attempted to follow your procedure but was unable to merge the 2 pages. Part of the problem is both pages come in from a single file and they are both together. Therefore when you 'crop' the page the other one is gone. Additionally I had to take and revise the scale just to get the first page inside the virtual 81/2 by 11 border. If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it. Otherwise all this software is useless and I will discontinue my subscription.

    Hi Frank,

    This is somewhat roundabout, but should leave you with the desired result.

    If you're running Windows, you could try this:

    • Use the crop tool to isolate the parts of each page that actually has content.
    • Choose File > Print
    • Select the Adobe PDF printer
    • Click 'Multiple'
    • Print 2 pages per sheet.

    Now, you may need to just print sections of your document to PDF, then recombine them, but you should be able to end up with your desired output.

    This workflow will not work on Mac OS.

      Another good way to combine PDF pages is to use Adobe InDesign, a page layout application. InDesign is very good at this, and it can place individual pages onto a larger layout page. It can crop the PDF files. Then it can create a new PDF file at the new size.

        Not easily.  You might look into using imposition software like Quite Imposing: http://www.quite.com/imposing/features.htm
