Question

MS Word endnotes when converted to PDF don't map two ways

Hi

In my converted file I can click on the endnote number in the main text and it does take me to the endnote at the end of the document. However, the reverse does not work - when I single or doube click on the endnote number at the end of the file it doesnt take me back to the text. A reader of the pdf file would benefit from two way mapping and I'm sure Adobe knows that and it can be achieved. I just don't know how.

Note: I am talking about simple MS Word endnotes not those from EndNote.

@ilan_7027  try this, to enable two-way linking for endnotes when converting a Word document to PDF, begin by opening your Word document that contains the endnotes. Navigate to the "Acrobat" tab or menu within Word and select "Preferences" (or "Conversion Settings") to open the "Adobe PDFMaker" dialog box. Within these PDFMaker preferences, locate the tab pertaining to "Word settings" or simply "Word," and there you will find crucial options such as "Convert footnote and endnote links," "Create Links from Footnotes and Endnotes," or "Convert cross-references and table of contents to links"—ensure that the relevant checkbox for these linking options is thoroughly checked. Additionally, verify that the "Add Links" option is also enabled on the "Settings" tab of PDFMaker, as this is essential for link creation. After confirming these settings, click "OK" to save your preferences, and then proceed to create the PDF once more using either the "Create PDF" button found on the Acrobat tab in Word or the "File > Save as Adobe PDF" option, making sure to avoid Word's native "Save as PDF" or "Print to PDF" functions, as they often lack the advanced linking capabilities of Adobe PDFMaker.
