Question

Multiple acrotray.exe (32 bit) processes running at same time.

I have Acrobat DC installed on Windows 8.1 and on startup multiple acrotray.exe (32 bit) processes can be seen in task manager using system resources and slowing down the computer. On occasions I have seen tens and even a couple of hundred acrotray.exe processes running and I find myself ending the processes one by one in task manager. I have tried to disable it in start up but it usually reappears.

I understand acrotray.exe is a necessary application and is part of adobe acrobat to create PDFs but in this case am I dealing with a virus disguised as a legitimate process? I have tried to remove it using various virus scans but no luck.

What can I do?

I got so fed up with it I finally deleted AcroTray.exe then uninstalled Adobe Acrobat DC. I think I will look for another PDF software to use.
