I have a large file of 1000pages that I now need numbered. I can't see /find how to do this. When I use 'Number Pages' it numbers not the actual pages but the navigator pages (the thing at the top) - I need the pages numbered. Any help I much appreciated.

Hi Estella863,

Open PDF in Acrobat, Choose Tools > Edit PDF , Header & Footer > Add.

To insert page numbers or the current date, click in a box and then click the corresponding buttons. To select formatting for automatic entries, click Page Number And Date Format.

  • To specify the pages on which the header and footer appear, click Page Range Options. Then specify a page range and choose a Subset option, as needed
  • Examine the results in the Preview area, using the Preview Page option to see different pages of the PDF.
  • (Optional) To save these header and footer settings for future use, click Save Settings at the top of the dialog box.
  • (Optional) To apply the same settings to additional PDFs, click Apply To Multiple Files. ClickAdd Files, choose Add Files or Add Open Files, and select the files. Then in the Output Optionsdialog box, specify your folder and filename preferences, and click OK.

Regards,
Aadesh

I'm using Adobe Acrobat XI Standard and don't see a "Tools" menu, only File, Edit, View, Windows, and Help.  I also don't see anyplace to add headers or footers.  Is this a feature for Adobe Acrobat Pro only?  Is there a way to add page numbers in Adobe Acrobat Standard?
