No Print to PDF printer Windows 8.1

I have been setting up a user with a Surface Pro 2 tablet. He uses Adobe Standard Acrobat 8. I have had to install other versions of Acrobat on other user's tablets but they all have the Print to PDF printer selection.

This user doesn't have that printer, and also I don't have the right options to set it up manually.

When I go to add a printer and select a port there is no option like Document\*pdf.

I have uninstalled and re-installed Acrobat 2 hopeing it would suddenly work, but no luck there.

The one unique thing about this user's tablet is it has Symantec anti-virus installed on it, and the other user's don't have it. Could Symantec be the reason I can't get the Print to PDF printer?

Also looking deep inside his Acrobat folders I found that he does not have a printinf64.exe file in his folder like the other user's do. Do I just have to add that file in the folder to get it to work?

Thank you,

Correct answer Test Screen Name

when I go to help about Adobe, It says it is version 8.0.0

Sounds as if the updater is confused. Maybe you need to manually update (or follow what Adobe would recommend, buy Acrobat XI (11) instead).

Acrobat 8 is very old and long out of support, but some people have made it work. Certainly, you need to apply all updates.

I've gone to the help tab and click check for updates, and it tells me it is all up to date..

when I go into edit>preferences I can' teven find updater.. So how do I manually update it?

Since the automatic updater isn't working for you, you would have to source the updates and resolve their (often complex) prerequisites from Adobe's sites.
