Question

open cross-references to same document in new tab/window

Hi, I've got the following problem: I'm currently reading a pdf document with lots of cross-references (links to sections within the same document, see https://helpx.adobe.com/incopy/using/cross-references.html).

Every time I click a cross-refernce it jumps to the according section and the position I've been clicking from gets lost. So I want Acrobat to open a new tab/window where I can briefly read through the linked section and then go back to the previous tab/window to continue reading.
Is there any setting in Acrobat to control how links to the same document are opened?

  1. Use the menu Window > New Window
  2. Click on the link

Hi Thomas

Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble. As described, you want to open the link in the new window/tab

Have you created this PDF file or have you got it from a different user?

If you have created the PDF file, what are the steps you did to create the link on the page?

Would you mind sharing the PDF file in question so that we can check and try it at our end  https://helpx.adobe.com/document-cloud/help/sharing-pdfs.html ?

We are here for help, just need more information.

Regards

Amal

Hi Amal,

no the pdf was not created by myself. But the issue occurs with every pdf created in LaTeX (LaTeX creates links for every reference to a picutre or a section).

In this document for example: https://documentcloud.adobe.com/link/review?uri=urn:aaid:scds:US:064b2892-a16c-41a9-a411-dbb85a628a58 every reference to a figure/listing/table/section is a link and i would like to open it in a new tab.

Regards

Thomas
