Hello,
Maybe you can help me, I am at my wits' end. I have created a PDF form with some text fields, dropdown lists, and checkboxes. Now, the content of the PDF template has changed slightly, so I adapted the template in Word, saved it as a PDF, and then I wanted to simply copy my 23 text fields, dropdown lists, and checkboxes from the old to the new one. Suddenly, I noticed that the text in the fields had shifted upwards, cutting off the top of the text in the fields. I use the Proxima Nova font, other fonts work fine and the text is displayed in the correct position. However, Proxima Nova is not the only font where the text shifts too far up. Strangely enough, it worked for weeks and even in my old version of the PDF form, the text in the fields is still displayed properly, even if I now add new fields. How can that be?? But I can't format the fields either, can I?
I have also installed Adobe Acrobat Pro on another client to rule out that it is a problem with my installation or computer. But there, too, the text in the fields is cut off.
Please Help me 🙂

Hi BBC29094448vuzs,
Thank you for reaching out and reporting this.
Would you mind sharing more information to investigate this issue?
- Share the Acrobat and OS versions.
- Check if this happens with other PDFs. Try creating a new test form and creating the same field.
- It would be helpful if you could share the sample file and screen recording of the workflow.
The information will help us to replicate the behavior.
Thanks,
Meenakshi

Hi Meenakshi,
thanks for your reply.
- Acrobat Version 2023.001.20143 and Windows 10 Pro 22H2, but like i said i tried it on a different Computer with a new clean installation of Acrobat Pro and it didnt change anything.
- yes, the problem occurs with every new PDF. Only with my old form, dated April 14th, 2023, the problem does not occur, even if I create a new field there.
- I have uploaded two files: "adobe_no_problem_1.pdf" is based on the working form from April 14th, 2023, I just removed all sensitive data and limited it to two working fields, but this should be enough as an example. "adobe_problem_1.pdf" is just a new blank PDF in which I created a text field with a height of "5.0179 mm", font size "10.5", and font type "Proxima Nova". Here it doesn't work anymore.
I look forward to your answer.
Thanks,
BBC29094448vuzs

We have the same problem, using a proprietary font. The font is a PostScript flavoured OpenType font (.otf).
I did export the exact same font as TrueType (.ttf). When using this version, text was placed perfectly.
We haven’t done much testing, but for now, we couldn’t reproduce the problem using the tt font.

I am having the same problem as of today. I am using Montserrat, a font activated using Adobe fonts. I have been using the same font family on form text fields for years and I have never had an issue until suddenly today. Whenever I draw a text field, set the text to auto>Montserrat>uncheck scroll long text and multi line. The text is cut off at the top unless I make the box larger which isn't an option because I need to have another text field directly below it. I have cleared the cache and even uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat.

Hi @hollyb2400554, when you activate Monserrat via Adobe Fonts, you get a PostScript based OpenType font (with the extension .otf). You can also download Monserrat at fonts.google.com (for free). There you get the TrueType version of the font.
Now, if you deactivate the Adobe version of the font and activate the Google version, the text should be placed correctly. – If the theory in my previous comment is correct.
It would be nice, if you could share your results here!
