PDF "save as" auto path set to weird temp file location

Instead of giving me the option to "save as" to the last location where I "saved as", PDF's now automatically want to save to some temp file. I'm receiving hundreds of invoices which I save to just a few locations, but now for each invoice I have to backtrack and find the correct place to save to. This is extremely time consuming and makes no sense!

Is there any way to set Adobe Acrobat to the way it used to be?

You can't change how it works, but it usually works correctly. Are these

files saved on your local computer when you open them, or are you opening

them from inside an email or a web-page, or something like that?

The ones I'm currently working on are in email (Outlook). Any pdf file which opened from Outlook has the same result, regardless of who sent them. I can't recall now if those I downloaded from the bank (ie web-page) worked correctly, though. I'll check just now.

That explains it. When you open a file attachment without first saving it, it saves itself as a temporary file somewhere on your computer.

So when you then go to actually save the file it uses that temporary file path as the default folder.

If you want to avoid it then first download the file from the email and save it locally, and then open it.

If I don't open it, I don't know what it is, so how on earth can I save it? I've never had to do it that way before.
