Question

PDF with embedded font prints with streaks

Due to a branding change, we have to download a new font (Oswald) that is not part of the Microsoft Office suite. When we embed that font in a Word Document and create a PDF in Acrobat Pro, everything looks fine on screen. However, some people are unable to print the pdf without having several black streaks on it. When I print it out on our office printer, everything is perfect. Is there a fix for this? Thanks for any help anyone can provide!

    Hi Sherry,

Thanks for reaching out. As described above, PDF with embedded font prints with streak, correct?

As stated, it prints fine on your office printer, It seems to be the issue with the font embedding on the other computer.

Please try to print as image. Go to Print > Advanced > Print as image. And check if that works for you

If it still doesn't work, please try the steps below:

    • Go to Edit (Windows), Adobe Acrobat DC (Mac) > Preferences > Page Display > Use Local Fonts > Click OK and restart the application and try to print.

Also, please ask other users to update their printer driver as it seems that  they are not using the office printer.

Let us know how it goes

    Regards,

    Amal

Amal, thanks for these suggestions. Print as image seems to work, but is there a way that we can permanently set that in the pdf or does it have to be done every time you print it?

    Hi there

We can not set Print as image as the default option. It seems to be an issue with the printer - printer settings. please try to update the printer driver and the firmware to its latest version.

Also, for testing purpose, please try printing the same PDF with other printer and check.

Let us know how it goes

    Regards
