Question

Problem after hiding tools pane

I followed the first method in this tutorial to hide the Tools Pane and the thin gray strip to the left with the left arrow head:

https://www.prajwal.org/disable-tools-pane-acrobat-reader/

But, now if I choose a tool to use from the Tools screen, the tools pane reappears, and when I click the Close button to close the Tools Pane, DC crashes.

I don't want to follow the second method in that tutorial, because it results in the right side of the app to show a thin gray strip, and it gets in the way of quickly whipping the mouse to the right edge of the screen and vertical scrolling.

Any help to resolve the crash issue would be appreciated. I'm using the latest version of Acrobat DC Pro. Thanks.

Sorry but I must be direct: You followed instructions, not from Adobe, which told you to delete part of an app. Now the app crashes. The solution is in your hands: put the app back how it is supposed to be.

My appologies. I have reverted those changes. But can someone please help me with what I want to achieve? I have included a screenshot of what I want to remove from the right side of the app's screen. I want to remove the collapsed Tools Pane including the small, gray thin strip that shows a left arrow head. Usually, I whip the mouse cursor to the right edge of my monitor and left click to scroll the document without even looking at the mouse cursor. But, with the intrusive Tools Pane and the thin gray strip showing, I have to manually eye and place the mouse on the vertical scroll bar and left click to scroll, otherwise I would accidently click on the Tools Pane or the thin gray strip. It's very frustrating.
