"Security too high" message when trying to convert word document to pdf

I keep getting an error message that says "Security too high..." when I try to convert a word document to pdf using Adobe Acrobat DC or the right click menu.  I have tried the following:

- Right Clicking the file and cick "Convert to Adobe PDF"

- Right Clicking the file and cick "Convert files in Adobe"

- Opening Acrobat and then Click Open and select a word document.

Also, I have noticed that each time, the Winword.exe process shows up in the proccesses tab of the task manager and does not go away until I manually close it.

It does work, however, if I open word and either print using the Adobe PDF printer or click Save as Adobe PDF.

I have checked all the posts I have found regarding the Security too high message but nothing has worked.

Any ideas

Correction to when I said "Subsequentially, there is nothing to loose if you  also try changing the file type from within Word to any other format or saving it as "PDF/XPS Document and try right-click "Convert to Adobe PDF"   again."

It should read:  "... also try changing the file type from within Word to any other format and try to convert to PDF using your right-click method or just save it as "PDF/XPS Document" and try and open it normally with Acrobat

Which version of MS Office are you using?

Have you tried updating or upgrading the Microsoft product and see if the export feature improves? I would force an update on the operating system as well.

And, just out of curiosity, try opening the same file in MS Word, save a copy as rich text format (.rtf) or plain text, close it and then try the method that you are doing (right-click "Convert to Adobe PDF" ) and see what happens. Subsequentially, there is nothing to loose if you  also try changing the file type from within Word to any other format or saving it as "PDF/XPS Document" and try right-click "Convert to Adobe PDF"   again. This is just to rule out the possibility of anything related to the security level of Macros aor any Visual Basic add-ins in your product as described here:

Hi seane,

Apologies for the delay in response, I hope you would be able to fix it by now.

If the problem still persists, as described above you are getting the message "security too high", correct?

You may please refer to the troubleshooting steps in a similar discussion - security level too high warning

Let us know if that works for you

Regards,

Amal

No, that discussion did not help, I was unable to find anything that would fix it, I eventually had to resinstall windows.
