Hi there:
I downloaded a few fillable PDFs from Revenu Quebec for their income tax forms for 2023 from their website, and although I am able to fill things out, I am not able to see any updates for the sums in each section. They remain at zero, which is uneditable. Is it because there is a password protection? Does anyone know what the password would be?
Update: I think they figured it out: the English form now downloads correctly. Try again!

Are you sure there should be auto calculated fields in there?
From what I can see on some pages there are instructions to the user to enter amounts and add them up manually.

Hi there:
Thanks for your response. I have checked once again and I see that the only editable fields are those that show up in blue. I entered several values within the fields and the amount showing for the totals do not show up any values other than zero, no matter what I put in the fields. Since the zeros for the totals are not in the blue editable fields, I am unable to edit these in Adobe Acrobat. I have inlcuded a screenshot here for you to see.

A PDF made with Pagemaker and MacOS Quartz PDF cannot contain any calculation because they only support the minimal version of AcroForms.
You can unlock it to see for yourself: https://smallpdf.com/unlock-pdf

Hi there:
Thanks for the resonse. I went to the link and unlocked the original file, however, I still get the same result (where the sum does not calculate and I am unable to edit it manually). Please check my screenshot. Is there something else that needs to be done in order for this calculation to occur or be edited after that point? Please let me know.

Why don't you ask the support from Revenu Quebec? The one doing the form best knows how your do that and what you need to do.
As soon as you can access the form in edit mode, you could add the corresponding field to enter the data.

Yes, I will definitely reach out to them. As it was the weekend when I asked this, I figured that perhaps there is a way to do this from inside Adobe, but maybe there is another thing that I can do in order to access the ability to sum, as per any other instructions that they can give me for this.
As for the part that you mentioned, "you could add the corresponding field to enter the data.

Well, you got good advice, but advice can only go so far. At some point, it is for the forms provider to present a solution.
If you have Acrobat (not reader) you can for sure edit the form in a way as it wasn't intended. I do that very often, when I get prefilled forms with errors in, like when they get my name or address wrong. But, if the form is not protected, yo could also add your form fields and then add your data. I never do that, as there is no need for that, when I'm the one entering data.
The last lone in this message is my signature. It only shows my education, and my profession. Just to give people an idea that when I talk about computers, that I'm not the gardener or the car mechanic. 😉

You're welcome. Normally I try to put a blank line between the text and the signature. I realized, that I forgot that, and as the last line was rather full, I saw that you could get confused. Good luck woth your form.

It appears the 2023 version of that form is majorly disfunctional. Not only does it not do the calculations you are expecting, none of the hyperlinks in it work either. If you look at any of the previous years' versions of that same form (they are on the website), they work properly, so it looks like whoever at RQ did the modifications for the 2023 version didn't do a very good job! Let them know that this form is not working.
FYI, there's a reason there's a password on these things. They don't want you fiddling with it. Even though there are tools that can unlock them, there are possible legal ramifications to do so. I doubt the Revenue Quebec people would look kindly on this.
(side note: the PageMaker reference looks like it was originally created back in 1999 in PageMaker, and they must have been simply patching and modifying the parts that changed since then: if you look at the non-fillable versions, they are definitey based on InDesign documents.)
