Save As only Editable files

Greetings fellow membors of the internet.

I have a PDF document with fillable fields on it for staff to tick and fill in.

I'd like to make a template out of this document. Is there a way to make it Save As only?
Currently when the close the file, it prompts them to save changes and proceeds to overwrite the file.

P.S.

I already tried password protecting the file with Filling in Form Fields and signing existing signature fields enabled.

Make it read-only in the file system. That is, not an Acrobat thing at all. Use network or system security to protect the file, so it can't be written. Do the same for the folder it is in. If you don't know how to protect files shared on your network, talk to your network administrator, it's going to vary with the kind of file sharing you have.

That is indeed another option. Thanks for that.

I'm sure its possible in Adobe though..

We'll call this plan B.

You're sure it's possible in Acrobat? Do you have any reason to go on for being sure? Certainly, none of the Acrobat security settings affect Save or Save as.

Make the file read-only on the filesystem, and then prompt the user to do a "Save As" to a new filename instead.

Thank you for feedback.
Please elaborate as to how I can go about doing that.

If you're refering to doing it via the Document Properties setting:

I'd say that "I've already said this doesn't work".

Sure asking the users to rather select Save As is indeed an option, but some of the users are elderly and don't have the patience for that.

I'm trying to get them away from the pen and paper system, so it must be as seemless as possible.
