Selecting rich media objects

Haven't been able to find an answer to this, so hoping someone can help. I routinely work on a document with rich media items I've created - boxed areas that take you to a specific page, buttons that take you to a specific page... with the new Acrobat Pro 2023, when I select the black 'selection' arrow, it seems to default to the standard items on the page... not the 'form' items.

So for example, on a table of contents page where I have boxed areas on the list of contents, I now have to select 'add rich media' then from here the dropdown under add content for 'Link/Add or Edit link' for my highlighted boxes to show up. I can select them from here, but as soon as I hit the 'select' arrow, it defaults the screen back to basic editing boxes (which highlight all text individually). Same goes for buttons. I can't 'select' my button the page with the black select arrow - I need to go to the 'add content/Button' selection for the button to now be highlighted... but my cursor is now a new button... which I have to place before I can go and select my previous button (then delete the new button). If I change the cursor to the black select arrow, I can no longer select the button. I read somewhere that double-clicking with the select arrow on a media object will select it but that doesn't seem to work. In the previous version of acrobat the arrow behaved as expected when selecting media objects. Workflow has become seriously impacted unless I can figure this out. Any help appreciated.

Figured out my own solution... I just turned off the god-awful revision to the Acrobate UI. Going back to the old version swapped my panes back to where they used to be (page display on left, tools on right) which was also bothering me but not as much as the selection issue. In the old version there's a 'select object' arrow that's different from the 'select' arrow cursor. I cannot find this option in the new UI. Why Adobe, why do dumb things? smh

Not all features are available in Acrobat with the new UI.

well, sure... but if that's the case, how am I supposed to select things in the new UI if the cursor doesn't work as it should? I mean, it has a purpose... hence why it existed. This isn't really a 'feature' - it's standard functionality. I need a way to select items.

You should switch to the classic (old) UI and check if your operation works there.
