Working from InDesign, I've got to produce a PDF for a client who wants it as a landscape spread on their website, but am not sure what optimum size to do it so that it can be read easily on varying laptop/PC screen sizes and wondering if there's some kind of formula. As a design for print guy, this has always confused me. I usually work in metric but understand that it'll be measured in pixels on screen.
Thanks in anticipation.

You CANNOT design a PDF in pixels (even if some apps seem to give you that option). It will always have a size in inches/mm. Some PDF viewers will default to a small section, others will zoom out. Users will probably know how to zoom and scroll.
But a PDF is NOT a web graphic, and trying to use is as a graphic "on" a web site (as part of a page) is asking for disaster. You would deliver a normal graphic (PNG, JPG), perhaps linked to a PDF. The view size is now controlled by the web site designer. You probably need to keep it simple, if it is to work on a range of devices.

Appreciate your getting back. Sorry, but I probably didn't explain it properly as the client's PDF's don't appear on website pages but are linked to downloadable PDFs.
