Text being duplicated in all the Adobe Form fields.

Whenever I am trying to fill in the PDF form fields, the text duplicates into every other field in the pdf, irrespective of which fieldbox I type into. Is there a way to update all the fields in one go with unique names? Or do I have to manually update each textbox? I have to work through about 500 pages of the PDF form so I would appreciate anyone's assistance in this matter.

Hi siddiqui278198039te1,

Thank you for reaching out.

As the text duplicates in the form field, the only way is to change the form field's name to a unique one.

There is no default option to simultaneously change all the form fields' names. You will need to do it manually or check if that can be done via script.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

Hello! I have a form WITH unique field names (I painstakingly went through all of them to ensure unique names) that seem to be duplicating the text of another field. What can be causing this? Any ideas?

As mentioned, each field will have to have a unique name for this to be solved. It's the fault of whoever created the form and just copied & pasted the fields without bothering to make sure they are not the same...

If you want to do it automatically, though, you can use this (paid-for) tool I've developed that will re-create the fields, giving them all unique names. However, some settings will be lost in the process (such as any validation or calculation scripts, formatting, etc.). You can get it here: https://www.try67.com/tool/acrobat-rename-duplicate-fields-to-unique-fields
