Trouble deleting a redacted word from text search multiple words in my document

I have adobe acrobat pro DC purchased this year.  I am using the multiple words text search function to highlight the list of specific words (names largely) that I wish to redact within my document.  When I right click to select a word I wish to leave unreadacted, the blue box appears but it is taking me a minimum of two right clicks on delete (and sometimes even up to 5) to get the redaction select to delete so the word will remain in the document when I apply.  Can anyone help?

The marked redactions are a type of annotation. The boxes should be able to be deleted and once deleted the word or words should not be redacted. There should be a panel on the right side that shows or list each redaction annotation and you can check or uncheck individual markings.
