Question

Using Handscanner for text fields within formular

By scanning a QR code or data matrix code, three text fields in a form should be filled in. The QR code contains the model, serial number and calibration date. The values are separated by tabs. When scanning in Word, the information is transferred correctly. In the PDF form, some of the information is not transferred correctly in the first text field and it does not jump to the next text field.
What could be the reason for this?

Hi armin_TPL,

Thank you for reaching out.

PDF forms don't automatically parse tab-separated values into multiple fields like Word. If the first field is not set up to handle or split tab-delimited input, it will try to display the entire string, possibly truncating or misinterpreting it.

Could you please share the screen recording of how it works in Word and PDF? If possible, share the Word file and the steps you use to convert it to PDF.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

Hi Meenakshi,

thanks for your support.

It seems, with a PDF417 it is working better, but there is still a problem.

This is the code: (\t is the code for a tab)

01234567890123 \t1191GM410 \t14.11.2025

If I set the cursor to the textfield "SicherheitstesterModel" and scan the PDF417-code, the second and third textfield is filled out correct, only the first one not.

The number 11 and 12 character is missing, but I have not limitsetting for this textfield.

I have attached the pdf-form.
