Windows user can't add custom text to dropdown field in Acrobat DC; works on a Mac

In Adobe InDesign under MacOS 11.6.3 (Big Sur), I created a PDF form with a dropdown field that includes a pick list of responses.

 

In Adobe Acrobat DC 2021.011.20039, I edited the field, setting the "Dropdown Properties" screen so the "Allow user to enter custom text" checkbox is active. I then saved the form and distributed it to several colleagues.

 

A Windows-based colleague who also is using Acrobat Pro DC cannot enter custom text into the dropdown field. The dropdown menu works correctly for him otherwise (i.e., he can select an option from the predefined pick list).

 

Works fine for me. I can enter text and choose from the pick list.

 

What am I missing here?

Thank you, Amal. Turns out the problem was far simpler: The user had accessed a preliminary version of the form without full functionality.

Hope you are doing well and sorry to hear that. As described, a windows user can't add custom text to dropdown field.

 

What happens when he tried to enter the custom text? Does he get any error message? If yes, please share the screenshot of the same for a better understanding. Also make sure he is using the recent version 21.11.20039 of Acrobat Pro DC. Go to Help > check for updates and reboot the computer once.

 

Please try to turn off the protected mode for testing (Win Only) Go to Edit > Preferences > Enhanced Security > Uncheck 'Enable Protected mode at startup' Turn off the protected mode and uncheck 'Enhanced Security' > Click OK and reboot the computer once.

Note: Please turn on the security after testing to avoid any security risk.

 

Also ask him to create a new test user profile with full admin rights in Windows and try using the application there and check .
