Question

Word Docs will not merge and convert to pdf's.

I just tried merging several word documents with Adobe Acrobat Pro. The merge screen comes up and it appears to start the process; however, a single pdf file is created and then the adobe just locks up. I am trying this on my laptop using Windows 10. My desktop with Windows 8.1 never had this problem.

Hi There,

Thanks for reaching out. As described above, the Word documents are not merging and converted to PDF, correct?

We need some more information for a better understanding:

  • What is the workflow/steps you are doing to merge the Word documents to PDF?
  • What is the version of the Adobe Acrobat DC installed on your laptop? To check the version go to Help > Click, About Adobe Acrobat DC.
  • Check for any missing updates and try updating the application. Go to Help > Check for Updates.
  • Try repairing the installation. Go to Help > Repair Installation and check if that works for you.
  • Is this a behavior with a particular word document or with any file you try to merge to PDF?
  • Could you please share some sample files with us for testing and reproducing the issue? Please upload the sample file on document cloud https://documentcloud.adobe.com/link/home/ and share the link.

Regards,

Amal

Amal, Thanks for your help. I am using Adobe Acrobat X Vers. 10.1.16. I am not using Acrobat DC. I have tried merging documents several different ways. 1. I go into my file directory and click on several Word files. When I try to merge, the Adobe window pops up with the files in them. I click on merge and a progress bar pops up. Then Word opens up with the first file and a window opens up asking where I want to save the file. The problem is that only one of the many files converts to a pdf. 2. I tried to combine files directly from Adobe and the same thing happens. 3. I go to a different directory and try the same thing with different word docs. Same thing happens.

Amal, I am afraid I am having sharing the files. I can only get one at a time to create a link. Is there another way to do this. I can directly email them or can I post them directly on this site?
