Question

3D images not showing in Acrobat

Hi, I’m not able to view 3D images in Acrobat (see the image, it shows just a blank page). Everything was fine 2 months ago when I was working on these images the last time, so I’m assuming that the new upgrades of Acrobat have something to do with this. I was trying to install an older version of Acrobat but CC doesn’t allow me to do that. I work on a Mac. Many thanks for your help!

Hi @Iain28097849lacr ,

Thanks for your reply!!

Could you please confirm whether you are using  javascript functions in your 3D files.

Thanks ,

Shruti

Hi Shruti,

I’m not entirely sure what you mean but no, I don’t use any special functions, I just view them in the normal way.

I found some sample 3D pdfs online and was testing them. 2 of them disappear once I activate them (the turbine and the shoe). 2 of them (the car and the industrial saw) I can see and turn, but the car looks wrong.

The images are from https://tetra4d.com/pdf-samples/

Can you see and turn all of these on a Mac?

Many thanks,

Varpu

Sounds like you gave up on me as you couldn’t find a solution. Fortunately I found another software that I can use on an iPad, and managed to download it on Mac too even if it is not designed or verified for Mac OS.

It works better than Acrobat ever did. Acrobat has been a real pain for many years now. It keeps crashing all the time, 3D pdfs have been difficult to turn and scale, they have had resolution problems and I could only view a hi res pdf on a small rectangle on the side of my screen. Why? Surely there’s so many problems with the new upgrade now, even on Windows, that you will sort this out.

Hi @Iain28097849lacr ,

Thanks for writing in !

You can check the version by clicking on  Acrobat Pro > About Adobe Acrobat Pro  Product Version

For your query regarding , Isn’t the modern and classic view a Windows OS thing : No , we do support them in both the OS. You can enable Classic view by clicking on View -> Disable new Acrobat.https://helpx.adobe.com/in/acrobat/using/new-acrobat-experience.html

Hi Shruti,

I have product version 25.001.20438

I'm afraid the Classic View didn’t change anything, still can’t view the 3D pdfs.

Hi @Iain28097849lacr ,

Could you please help us with the  below queries:

  • Acrobat build details

  • Were you able to work with any other 3D files?

  • Can you check if the files work when switching from modern view to classic view?

If possible, could you also share the files where you're encountering the issue?

Regards,

Shruti

Hi Shruti,

Thank you very much for the reply!

Sorry… what are build details? Do you mean an error report or something like that? I don’t get one.

No, all the 3D pdf files are just blank pages, I used to be able to view these a couple of months ago.

Isn’t the modern and classic view a Windows OS thing? I work on a Mac.

Sorry but my employer doesn’t let me share the files. 😞

I already tried this https://adobe.ly/4jeQqoS But it didn’t help.

Best,

Varpu

Okay, found out how to fix this on a PC, but no idea how to fix this on a Mac. Adobe needs to fix this error in the next upgrade of Acrobat!!!
