Acrobat Reader 11 and Total Commander incompatibility

Guest
Jan 04, 2017 Jan 04, 2017

Hello everyone!

I have a problem opening .pdf files by double-clicking them in Total Commander. Adobe Reader starts in the background, but doesn't open the document.
Otherwise, I can open files just fine.ce

Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

Hi levee44,

Sorry for the delayed response.

Could you please confirm if you are still experiencing the issue?

If yes, you may try launching Total Commander in normal mode(not with elevated user rights) and check if that works.

Thank You,
Shivam

Dear Shivam!

I still have the issue. However, I followed you suggestion and played around with the compatibility settings, and found that AReader does open if neither TotalCommander nor Acrobat Reader are in administrator mode.
What I don't understand is why doesn't it work when both programs have elevated user rights?

Thank you for your answer. I would like to mark it as correct, but I don't see a 'Correct' button under the message.

I am not sure about the workings of Total Commander, but if you run one as an administrator and the other as a normal user, Windows blocks messages between the normal users and the admins.

Also, to mark an answer as correct, you might need to login into the forums.

Hello!

I did this:

Menu - Preferences - Security (Enhanced) - Enable Protected Mode at startup - OFF

Good luck!
