Question

Acrobat Reader DC keeps crashing when multiple pdf files are open and I switch between them.

I have a PC, Win 8.1.  I notice the problem specifically when I have search boxes open in the files and I attempt to switch between the open pdfs.  If I just have one pdf open I don't have this issue.  This makes searching through multiple documents at once impossible.

I also have this problem I Adobe Reader DC has crashed 8 times in the last 45 minutes going between 2 open PDF documents and Word. It is very frustrating.

I also have this problem (Windows 7 64bit) it all started with DC. Before DC your reader was at least ok, now it's just a piece of crap.

    Eureka!

In that I have been able to successfully recreate this issue in a number of environments.

It appears as long as I change the PDFs by using the UI Tabs in Adobe Reader DC , no problem.

If I use the Windows Task Bar to switch PDFs however, after the first 2 or 3 switches. BLAM-O! Adobe Reader freezes completely, all files.

If I had to guess, something to do with the introduction of the tab UI has caused a handling conflict of some sort.

    Hi sf_flshbk,

Please let me know the exact dot version of Acrobat Reader DC installed on your system?

In the mean time, open Acrobat Reader DC, navigate to Help menu & repair the installation.

I have the same problem, but with Win 7 (64 bit).

Have repaired the installation; have unchecked Enhanced Security (as suggested elsewhere). Still crashes with 2 pdf files of around 2MB each.

No other open windows, no memory shortage.

    More suggestions?

    Hi gerryv38442732,

As it seems to be file specific issue you can try recreating the PDF using Acrobat application.

It happens with many different files when multiple files are open (usually 2, each about 2MB).

I'm going back to Adobe Acrobat XI if I can figure out how.
