Question

Acrobat Reader freezes on OSX Catalina

Running OSX Catlina 10.15.7. on a Macbook Pro 2013. Plenty of free disc space.

Acrobat Reader DC Version 22.001.20112 taken from application file info because I can't get to the about info in the app.

Open (by double clicking any PDF) or simply by opening Acrobat Reader on it's own.

Acrobat Reader is immediately unresponsive. Sometimes causes the whole system to crash.

Hello Nigel,

I hope you are doing well. I am sorry for your experience with Acrobat Reader.

Are you getting any error messages before the application freezes operation? If yes, please share a screenshot of it with us to investigate further.

Also, please update the application to the latest version, version 22.001.20142.

You may do so from within the application by going to Help-> Check for updates.

If you are not able to use the application, you can click the below link to start the install:

Adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Download | Free PDF viewer for Windows, Mac OS, Android

Also, a screen shot of the system specifications of your Mac would be of great help.

To get the system preferences:

1. Click on Apple Logo on the top left;

2. Click on About this Mac;

3. Take the screenshot of the window that comes up.

Let me know if the issue persists on the latest version too.

Thanks,

Souvik.
