Hi,
Since last adobe security patch when an app tries to open a pdf embedded into the own application (SAP) an error (103:103) is launched and no pdf is viewed.
We are running Windows 10 Version 10.0.19042 Build 19042 along with Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Version 2020.013.20064. Protected Mode in Adobe is disabled.
Does anyone know a solution for this?
Thanks
Margarete

As mentioned above, This update is causing SAPGUI to close without error and depending on how many sessions the user has open, causes a delete session R47 for each session in SM21. In the Windows event application log shows SAPLOGON.exe at fault. This started on 11-4-2020 after update 20.013.20064 an is causing major issues with our users the previous 20.012.20048 worked. We have used SAPGUI 7.40 to 7.60 with same results. Please fix ASAP.

Hi there
Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble. As described, Since last adobe security patch when an app tries to open a pdf embedded into the own application (SAP) an error (103:103) is launched and no pdf is viewed.
Could you please let us know exactly how do you embed the PDF into that SAP application and how is the application trying to open that PDF in Adobe Reader DC ?
Could you please share a snapshot of the error or a Screen recording of the workflow for the issue that you are facing .
Also Can you please try a workaround and see if this fixes the issue ?
1) Launch Adobe Reader
2) Open "Edit -> Preferences" and select "Security (Enhanced)"
3) Untick (uncheck) the setting "Enable Protected Mode at startup"
4) Try to Relaunch PDF now and see if this fixes your issue ?
Let us know how it goes
Regards
Amal

Hi Amal,
We generate our PDFs at runtime, see also
https://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/ABAP/Step+by+step+of+PDF+form+programming+in+GUI?original_fqdn... and use the SAP standard "print view" functionality to preview the generated PDF.
The setting "Enable Protected Mode at startup" is not set by default.
Regards
Margarete

We sare seeing the same issue with the SAP GUI and Adobe Reader DC & Standard DC 20.013.20064. Below is the event viewer log entry when it crashes. If we back rev to version 20.012.20048, everything works as normal.

Our software is also seeing a similar issue when using a browser control to view pdfs. This is begining to become widespread with the latest update.

Hi all
I found a workaround, hope it helps!

We have tested turning protected mode at startup back on, it seems to be better, but then reintrouces the bug where you no longer get the print dialog when trying to print a PDF. Still not the optimal solution.

We are facing exactly the same issue as dalea72953627 and Margarete5CEC and RobertSAPBasis
We tried this with different SAP GUI versions and differenet security settings (Enable Protected Mode at startup), error occured for all of them
For the moment, we uninstalled Version 20.013.20064 and went back to older version 20.012.20048 - this solves the problem for the moment
We urgently ask for a solution

Martin I'm not sure if this helps you or if you have tried the registry key below bDisallowDLLUnload. It requires a restart of the pc but has worked in my case.
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\DC\FeatureLockDown
bDisallowDLLUnload= 1

1) Set registry key like you suggested 2) installed 20.013.20064 version again 3) rebooted my PC
After this - SAP embedded pdf-view (Document Viewer, ..) is very (!) slow again ...
SAP GUI still crashes after displaying some pdf's ....

Hello KMIN,
Can you please share where you found this registry key? I use the following URL to find registry keys for Adobe Reader and was unable to find this key: https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/PrefRef/Windows/index.html
I am interested in this registry key as our Software vendor is asking us to apply it and I want to make sure it is supported by the lastest version of Adobe Reader...
Thanks
