Dear community,

can you please help me with the following issue?

I use Windows 10 with two screens: one main screen and a second screen. Everytime I open a pdf, Acrobat Reader DC opens the pdf on the second screen, and not on the main screen!

I have no idea how to fix this. I appreciate any kind of helpful hints. Thanks!

Regards,

frek17

Hi frek17,

There is no preference settings to set the default screen to open document.

To open the application on the main screen, please try the steps provided below:

  • Open Adobe Acrobat Reader DC and resize the window.
  • Move it to the main screen and close it.
  • Now open the application again and maximize the window.
  • Then close it.

Now check if it opens by default on the main screen.

Let us know if you need any help.

Regards,

Meenakshi

Thanks, i now know how to do this instead of it working after a frustrating few days of having to drag it from one screen to another everytime i open a pdf.

I think it's the issue that's existed since the 1990s / early 2000s and if you move your file to the screen of preference and then hold "shift" and double-click the "A" icon in the upper left-hand corner (while the file is NOT in full screen mode) and close the file, upon reopening it will be in the same spot / monitor and then you can click the middle box to expand the file to take up your screen. If you do that "shift" and double-click the "A" icon once more and then reopen, it should open on the correct screen. You can use the "x" box for close but I have found it more consistently works with the old (like 30+ years old) double-click in the left hand corner to close the file.

Is there an updated method for the new versiono of Adobe? There is no "A" at the top left corner of the new version.

Only the hamburger menu and the house symbol.

This is not working for me. Since the latest update - even though I went to previous verison, still opens on the other screen. Why is there not a setting in the software to make this open on the screen you want?

I just started having this problem. I'm running Windows 11x64 Pro and my version of reader is: 23.6 20360.0

I've tried the suggestions elsewhere in this thread and it didn't affect the problem at home. If anyone else have any suggestions?
