Adobe Reader DC will not open

New Here ,
Sep 18, 2017 Sep 18, 2017

I downloaded Adobe Reader DC on my new windows 10 lenovo laptop a few weeks ago and it was working fine until a few days ago. Now when I try to open a pdf or just simply try to open reader by double clicking it, the loading cursor comes up for a few seconds and then it terminates and the program never opens up. When I have the task manager open, two processes/activities appear when I try to open it up entitled Adobe DC, but seconds later they disappear. It is as if it is trying to start up and then something is blocking it from happening. Would Immunet Antivirus be blocking this from opening?

Hi Sweetlou,

As per the description above, you are not able to launch/open the Adobe Reader DC, Is that correct?

Please restart your computer once and then try to launch the Reader DC as an Admin i.e. Right Click on Reader DC icon and choose Run as Administrator.

If this does not help, please use Adobe Cleaner Tool to remove Adobe Reader: Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

Then restart your computer and reinstall the Adobe Reader DC: Adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Distribution

Hope this helps, and keep us posted with the results.

Regards,

Anand Sri.

Hi AnandSri,

I have previously done that, based on other forums that I've read and it still  doesn't work. When I try to open as an Admin, I get a notificaiton box that reads: "Adobe Acrobat Reader cannot open in Protected Mode due to an incompatibility with your system configuraiton. Would you like to open Reader DC with Protected Mode disabled?"

I've chosen each of the three options listed below (open with protected mode disabled, always open with protected mode disabled, and do not open with protected mode disabled) on multiple attempts and they all result in the same loading and then not opening that I experienced before.

Hi AnandSri

None of the actions recommended in these links have worked and I still have the same issue.

Hi Sweetlou,

If all the above troubleshooting steps were not helpful, then if you have any security software installed, disable it temporarily and check.

If this does not help, create a new Admin user profile and launch the Acrobat Pro DC.

Keep us posted with the results.

Regards,

Anand Sri.
