    Hello,

I have this "Allow opening of non-pdf file attachments with
external applications" checked. So not here is the problem.

The error is : Adobe Acrobat DC cannot open the file attachment because your
PDF file attachment settings do not allow this type to be opened.

I found out that if I add a new registry key it's working.

    This one:

    Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat
    Reader\2015\FeatureLockDown\cDefaultLaunchAttachmentPerms

    |.xlsm:2|.xlsx:2

After added this registry key I can open .xlsm file from pdf file. But I
installed the last patch after this, that one that you send it to me and after
last Adobe patch 15.06.30355 the registry key it's gone and we are back in the
    same situation.

Why is this change with the last patches? You can fix it?

    Please give me a feedback,

    Thank you,

    Amanda

    Hi Amanda,

This behavior is because of some Macro file extensions getting blocked as explained in the following link:

Acrobat bookmarks and links to office documents no longer allowed after update 2017.012.20093

    Hi Amanda,

As per the issue-description mentioned above, you are unable to open an attached .xlsm file in a pdf, is that correct?

Try updating Reader to the version 15.06.30355 and see if that resolves the issue. Launch Reader > click "Check for Updates" under Help menu. You can also download updates manually from this link: 15.006.30355 Out of cycle update, August 29, 2017 — Acrobat and Adobe Reader Release Notes

Reboot the machine after installing the patch and try again.

Keep us posted with the results.

    Hello,

Thank you for your feedback, unfortunately after  i installed new patch still doesn't work.

I tried with a a previous version (2015.006.30352.0) and it is working. So, something happened after this version.

Do you have some ideas why this is happening? Can you give us other solutions?

    Thank you,

    Amanda

    Thanks for the info.

Could you let us know what happens when you try to open an attached .xlsm file, is there any error message?

Try changing the trust manager setting by going into Edit > Preferences > Trust Manager

Check the box which says "Allow opening of non-pdf file attachments with external applications > click OK > relaunch Reader.

Would it be possible if you can share the problematic pdf file with us? You may create the link for the file using Adobe's send and track.

    (1) Visit this link: https://cloud.acrobat.com/send

    (2) Click  Add files > choose files from my computer

    (3) Select the file > click create link.

    Thanks,

    Shivam
