I am trying to open a PDF that is password protected. I am not able to open it even after I enter the correct password. I am able to open the same PDF with same password on a Windows machine.
OS details: Mac OS Ventura Version 13.5.2 (22G91)
Acrobat Reader details:
Architecture: arm64
Processor: Apple M1
Build: 23.6.20320.0
AGM: 7.1.1
CoolType: 8.3.1
JP2K: 4.0.0.52671
This is the error that I get:
The password is incorrect. Please make sure that Caps Lock is not on by mistake, and try again.

Does the password contain any special characters (eg. accented letters, or non-alphanumeric symbols, such as a dash)? If so, there might be an encoding issue.

Yes, it does contain dashes

When the password has dashes use the correct dashes.

I tried to copy paste from the key file (containing the password), tried typing it manually, both ways did not work
BTW - The same password works on Adobe Reader in Windows

I'm 99% sure it's an encoding issue, then. Could also be an encoding of the text file, but I'm afraid I don't have a suggestion on how to solve it, as I'm not a Mac guy. I would look for a good plain text editor, where you can specify the exact encoding of the characters you're typing, and copy the password from there.
