Changing or deleting 'author name' in pdf documents.

I'm using Acrobat Reader DC 18.011.20038 and  can't find a way of changing or deleting the 'author name'  in pdf documents. I've tried every suggestion here but still can't find a solution. I even changed my Windows-10 login name but pdf documents still show the old author name that I want to get rid of. Changing the name in comments doesn't change the author name in the pdf, I've tried that. Is there a registry setting where I can change the author name? BTW, why does Adobe make it impossible to easily change/delete the author name?

If you want to do that type of editing, you would need to purchase the full version of Adobe Acrobat. The free Reader can't do this but it is easily done with Acrobat.

You can use this free tool I've created to do it: https://www.try67.com/tool/acrobat-reader-anonymize-comments-free

Sorry, maybe I misunderstood the question. My tool only applies to comments. If you want to change the Author property of the file itself that's not possible in the free Reader.

So why have an edit commenting preferences dialogue box then?

I changed my Windows Log-in to create an Author Name I want for the comments but it does not work.

This question from 2018 was not about editing comments. Reader can change the author name for comments.
