Check Boxes Not Appearing as Checked When Sending For E-Signature Myriad Other Issues

Hello,

I currently have a fillable form contract that I was able to create with this software with help from all of you as well. I thought I had it perfected but I was mistaken. I am now encountering issues where the boxes checked are not showing up as checked when I use the request e signatures function or worse. Say it's a required check box part of a set where you can only choose 1, when you send it for esignature the checked box is blacked out and one of the remaining boxes that were unchecked are now listed as a required field to be checked along with the signature when sent to the client. Furthermore, the original checked box does not appear as checked on the document when sent or printed. Also, any optional check boxes do not show up as checked either. I have included a copy of the contract for you to peruse and pictures of what the user receives when sending out for e-signatures. Please tell me what I am doing wrong. I have already tried removing the 'required' contingency from the entire document but still any checked box does not appear. I tried switching to radio buttons by suggestion of the software which didn't work either. The radio button would be nice if once you checked the it, it wasn't rendered permanently checked leaving the user stuck with that choice and the only way you can uncheck it is to have this software and copy the button, delete the checked button and replace with the copy of the button you just made.

I don't understand why it was working fine and suddenly it doesn't. It caused me problems with my boss because some contracts went out with this glitch and as she said 'made us look incompetent' when the user had trouble. Please let me know what I can do.

I experienced checkboxes not remaining checked on my PDF pre-filled form when sending for e-signature and found that when I opened my PDF fillable form in the "Prepare a Form" tool, then at the top of that menu select the three-dot ellipsis then choose "Prepare form for e-signing" and saved it, it solved the problem. I had to do this even though that particular form did not require an e-signature. Good luck!

This may work. Make sure you have the latest Acrobat product optional update here: 24.002.20736 Optional update, May 05, 2024 — Acrobat-Acrobat Reader Release Notes (adobe.com)

1. Open the the prepared form and add in the appropriate e-signatures.

2. Save document to your desktop. this will append '-agreement draft.pdf' to the document.

3. Open document and enter data, checkbox selections

4. Save document

5. Select E-Sign

6. Select Review & Send button

Any selected checkbox or readials information will be retained after signatures are complete.

Hey! I contacted the adobe virtual assistant and ended up with techinical help. They fixed the problem.

All you need to do is logon in your online account (not from the desktop app). Go to settings. Under the E-signing settings un select - use the latest version of Request e-signatures and save.

All fixed. 🙂

Please let us know if you are still experiencing the behavior with the new version of Acrobat Sign. If yes, please share the screen recording of the steps you use to refill the check box and send it for signature. It will help us replicate the behavior and investigate it.

Hi all, Yes absoultly needs to be fixed, I have tried going back to my orginial word document and deleting the check box and re adding them in when preparing a form in Adobe, but then when sent for requesting signatures it doesn't retain the ticked box it shows as blank!! Adobe does need to fix this or I will have to look at a different program to use for esignatures.

I've been looking for a solution to this for about an hour now - the best that I've come up with, and this is still annoying, is when you send the document for signature, add yourself as a signer before the actual signer, and set all the checkboxes for you to sign.

My usecase is a fillable reference form, which either I send to a reference to fill out themselves or I fill out with the reference over the phone - the latter is much more common. After the call, I just need the signature from the reference, who would not want to recheck all the boxes on the form. It's clunky, and ends up with my signature on a form which doesn't need my signature- this really needs to be addressed by Adobe.

I am having the exact same issue. The previous version of Adobe I never had this issue and now when I send out previously filled contracts with certain boxes checked, they disappear. They need to fix this issue it definitely seems unprofessional. It also changes all my fields that are originally set as "auto" for font size to a default 12, it cuts off everything I have filled in and I have to go back and edit all fields again to make them auto sized. I want the previous way of signing back it was MUCH better.

Also having this issue where checkboxes are completely broken when using e-sign. Imagine my embarrassment when I sent a document to a contract recipient and it appeared to be completely invalid despite being perfect when I uploaded it to Adobe.

Adobe does not seem to care since I've found posts noting similar issues going back years. I'm going to be cancelling my subscription.
