Converting Word to PDF results in bad quality on figures

Hi guys!

I'm having problems converting Word files to PDF using Adobe Reader (Acrobat?). I've tried multiple approaches to conversion; print to PDF, simply "save as" to PDF, using the tools included with the Adobe, etc, and the only thing solution that really works for me is almost any online, and free, conversion tool.

My company is paying for the package, and we would really like to use what we have paid for. I am not able to access our Adobe account at the moment which is why I'm using an account I have to just created for the time being, as we need this problem solved.

I have included 4 screenshots. The first screenshot shows what the figure is supposed to look like.

The second picture shows what the figure looks like if i use the option showed in screenshot no. 3 (Gem som Adobe PDF = Save as Adobe PDF). Objects in the figure appears to be missing.

The fourth screenshot shows how grainy the figures become, if I use the "save as" option in word to convert to PDF. This version is grainy and is even more grainy on my end compared to this screenshot.

I have removed all forms of downsampling and ensured that all options, as far as I'm aware, retain the original quality of the pictures and figures.

I am using Windows 7 and Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010.

Reader is not capable of creating PDF files on its own. You are using a function of Word, so you should bring this issue up with the developers/community of that application, as Adobe software is not involved in this process.

If that is the case, does Adobe offer a tool that allows conversion/creation of PDF from Word?

Sure, either the web-based service Adobe PDF Pack, or the desktop application Adobe Acrobat.

I failed to mention that I do have Acrobat as well, my bad. I've been trying to use the tool provided by Acrobat, looking like this: Acrobat.PNG

This is a part of what Adobe is offering as far as I'm aware. Using the option on the left (Opret PDF = Create PDF) results in what happens in screenshot no. 4.

OK, yes, that is a part of Acrobat.

Can you share the Word and PDF files involved?

Also, what version of Acrobat do you have, exactly?

Page 12 appears fine to me (using Acrobat Pro XI and Reader XI):

We are not satisfied with how grainy it is compared to the Word file, and the online free converters seem to do a better job. Do you know of a setting to sharpen the quality or something along those lines? When I get back to work tomorrow I will try the online tool that you suggested in an earlier comment (Adobe PDF Pack).

You're right, the quality is not great, but that is something you can control. I would recommend using a higher quality image, or trying to play around with the conversion settings under the Preferences of the PDFMaker plugin.

I've tried the following, but to no avail:

Am I just out of luck?

EDIT: I have just been informed that the figures are created in PDF Power Point (...). Just thought I would mention it in case it changes anything.

So far, using an online, and free, converter seems to be the best option. I'm not marking the question as answered though as I'm still open for suggestions.
