Files opened from iCloud Drive not showing in recent files

I am using Mac OS 11.7.10 and Adobe Acrobat Reader 2024.001.20604. Since last night, any PDFs I open from iCloud Drive on my Mac are not showing in my recently opened files in Acrobat Reader. I have never had a problem with this before. I already tried turning off my computer and restarting it. In Preferences, the "Documents in recently used list" setting hasn't changed (it's at 100). Additionally, I already had a file in my recently opened files list that was from iCloud Drive. It is not at the top of the list, and if I open the file again, it doesn't move to the top of the list. Can anyone help?

Hi Everyone,

We are live with the new release (2024.004.20219).

Please update the app to the latest version and let me know if the issue is fixed for you.

This was posted on March 18, it's now four months later and this issue has still not been resolved. So frustrating.

How is this even an issue to begin with?
It’s a basic function that has worked for many years and now ...pffft!

Same issue here. Acrobat Pro version 2024.002.20893 running on MacOS Sonoma 14.4. Come on, Adobe, you've been working on this issue since May 3. Where's the fix?

Clearly Adobe has NOT been working on a solution to this problem. They have our money, so they seem to be fine with Acrobat Pro being a garbage app.

I have been having the same problem for months now. It just suddenly stopped suggesting recent folders. Keep thinking there will be an update that fixes it..

Same issue here for several months. Currently with MacOS Sonoma 14.4.1.  Come on Adobe, fix this bug!

Same issue here. Recent files not updating on Acrobat Reader 2024.002.20759 running on MacOS Sonoma 14.5. Switched to PDFGear as mentioned by others. That works fine.

I've had the exact same issue for the past few months and it's infuriating. I mainly use Google Drive and the recent files/folders list simply doesn't update. Please fix!!

Adobe can't even get this Community board to work correctly.
I hope you all know this isn't the "correct answer" and is another disgruntled user.

Temporary Work-Around:
Remove Acrobat v23.

Manually downloaded and installed Acrobat Pro 2020 from the downloads page.
Recent files updates.

Where did you find Acrobat 2020? I looked at https://www.adobe.com/apps/all/all-platforms and don't see it there. Thanks!

I'm having the same problem using Box Drive.
Linking Acrobat to Box doesn't help. Recents simply don't stick.
Conversely, I don't have the same problem with files in iCloud.

Apple support told me that iCloud is simply a copy of our Mac hard drive files. Even though it looks like we are opening files from iCloud on the Mac, they are actually being opened from your hard drive and just updated to iCloud so you can access them from other devices.

If you keep files under Documents/Desktop folders, Acrobat still recognizes them. I keep files in folders that are not under Documents/Desktop.  Acrobat no longer recognizes any of my files that are not in Documents/Desktop. If you keep all files on the Desktop or under the Document folder, that might be why you aren't having any problems with Acrobat recognizing them even though you use iCloud.

I don't have any other devices, so I wonder if anyone using Acrobat on a different type of device where the files are not on the hard drive are having issues with Acrobat not recognizing them to add as Recent?

Maybe someone can let me know if they are seeing a different situation with iCloud. Thank you!

Thank you for letting us know this is still being worked on, MeenakshiNegi. Since this has been a problem for over six months, it's getting very frustrating. I am now looking into other software to use instead of Acrobat Pro. That's huge because I've been an extremely happy Acrobat user for over 30 years, along with other Adobe products. I absolutely do not want to switch to a different app, but it's very difficult and time consuming to search through the file system to find the same folders every single time that I need them, which is several times a day.  This is not the quality that Adobe products have always given users throughout their history. Hopefully this is fixed soon. Thank you again for your update.

Acrobat Pro was a reliable app, but recent updates have made it nearly unusable. The difference between the ease of use of Creative Cloud apps like Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign compared to that lack of ease of use of Acrobat Pro is remarkable!

As @Nor_1234 wrote, "it's very difficult and time consuming to search through the file system to find the same folders every single time that I need them, which is several times a day." I've stoped using Acrobat Pro until this is resolved.
