I am using Mac OS 11.7.10 and Adobe Acrobat Reader 2024.001.20604. Since last night, any PDFs I open from iCloud Drive on my Mac are not showing in my recently opened files in Acrobat Reader. I have never had a problem with this before. I already tried turning off my computer and restarting it. In Preferences, the "Documents in recently used list" setting hasn't changed (it's at 100). Additionally, I already had a file in my recently opened files list that was from iCloud Drive. It is not at the top of the list, and if I open the file again, it doesn't move to the top of the list. Can anyone help?

Hi Everyone,
We are live with the new release (2024.004.20219).
Please update the app to the latest version and let me know if the issue is fixed for you.

PS I am opening files that are on the local hard drive of my MacBook Pro running Sonoma 14.5, not on any cloud storage, and still nothing gets added to the RECENTLY USED files list.

Temporary Work-Around:
Remove Acrobat v23.
Manually downloaded and installed Acrobat Pro 2020 from the downloads page.
Recent files updates.

Where did you find Acrobat 2020? I looked at https://www.adobe.com/apps/all/all-platforms and don't see it there. Thanks!

I've had the exact same issue for the past few months and it's infuriating. I mainly use Google Drive and the recent files/folders list simply doesn't update. Please fix!!

Adobe can't even get this Community board to work correctly.
I hope you all know this isn't the "correct answer" and is another disgruntled user.

Same issue here. Recent files not updating on Acrobat Reader 2024.002.20759 running on MacOS Sonoma 14.5. Switched to PDFGear as mentioned by others. That works fine.

Same issue here for several months. Currently with MacOS Sonoma 14.4.1. Come on Adobe, fix this bug!

I have been having the same problem for months now. It just suddenly stopped suggesting recent folders. Keep thinking there will be an update that fixes it..

Same issue here. Acrobat Pro version 2024.002.20893 running on MacOS Sonoma 14.4. Come on, Adobe, you've been working on this issue since May 3. Where's the fix?

Clearly Adobe has NOT been working on a solution to this problem. They have our money, so they seem to be fine with Acrobat Pro being a garbage app.

This was posted on March 18, it's now four months later and this issue has still not been resolved. So frustrating.

It’s a basic function that has worked for many years and now ...pffft!

I wonder if Acrobat Pro users could sue Adobe for this not working for a while, at least in small claims court. I have never tried suing so I don't know.

Same problem since around March. I contacted Adobe support about two months ago. They remotely connected to my machine (M1 MacBook Air, full Creative Cloud sub, latest MacOS). Then they used Acrobat removal tool, there was a new installation and some other steps I could not follow. But: nothing has changed, no files in the recent list. I was told that they would resolve this shortly ... Here we are.
Still, this is an infuriating bug for power users. Going back to 2020 Acrobat pro, is not really an option, fiddling around with license etc sucks. So please, ADOBE, check this, your(!) forum, and get this resolved before we see the same thing in other applications. By the way, I am now following also the recent list in indesign and see files I never opened for years suddenly appearing ... not a good sign. Once I see this happening more I will post here ...

Same behavior here with any file opened as a Mail attachment. If a sender sends a PDF and I open it (correctly) with Adobe, the file is NOT listed in the recent files and I need to go back to Mail, find the email, and open again the same attachment. I basically live with attachments and this is a huge drag on my work !
Any solution is deeply appreciated

I've just started experiencing this problem now. Running Sonoma 14.5.
I've tried reinstalling Acrobat but my 'recent' files are ones from Dec 2020!
Are any of you experiening this using DropBox? Could it be that there is *another* problem between Mac OS and Dropbox?

I haven't had any problems with Dropbox, thankfully.
Has anyone found an alternative app to Acrobat Pro? Losing the "recent files" capability in Acrobat has made the app nearly worthless and a big waste of my money!

For the past several months I have been using PDFgear. It keeps track of recent files very nicely. I have yet to find a function of Adobe AcrobatPro that is missing from PDFgear. It even has some AI built in. And the app is FREE!

Thanks for the suggestion! I am going to download PDFgear today.
I was glad to read that it is a free app, because I am already paying for Acrobat Pro as part of the Creative Cloud license fee.
I took advantage of the Acrobat option to "disable new Acrobat" so I wouldn't have to see that annoying AI assistant button. If anyone needs it, go to the main menu > View > Disable new Acrobat. It doesn't solve the "recent files" problem, but it cleans up the user interface.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have just reverted to the old Acrobat and sent a message detailing the reason.
I have also just discovered a 'workaround' of sorts. If you 'Share' a file you have open in Acrobat with yourself, it then appears in the list of recent files.

I disabled new Acrobat when it first came out because the layout was so annoying. Since that didn't stop the recent files issue from appearing, I came to this forum earlier this year to see if anyone else was having the same problems. It's now been several months and Adobe has been silent on the issue, so I wonder whether the AI features are interferring and Adobe isn't interested in resolving it because they are only interested in working on AI. I too will try PDFgear. If it provides the same features as Acrobat Pro and it's free, and Adobe is clearly not interested in this problem or their users, there's nothing to lose except an expensive subscription to an application that is no longer working for users. Thank you to everyone who has posted on this problem.
