I am using Mac OS 11.7.10 and Adobe Acrobat Reader 2024.001.20604. Since last night, any PDFs I open from iCloud Drive on my Mac are not showing in my recently opened files in Acrobat Reader. I have never had a problem with this before. I already tried turning off my computer and restarting it. In Preferences, the "Documents in recently used list" setting hasn't changed (it's at 100). Additionally, I already had a file in my recently opened files list that was from iCloud Drive. It is not at the top of the list, and if I open the file again, it doesn't move to the top of the list. Can anyone help?
Hi Everyone,
We are live with the new release (2024.004.20219).
Please update the app to the latest version and let me know if the issue is fixed for you.

Hi adam.sarpatki,
Thank you for reaching out.
Please share the screenshot for the desktop application showing the recent list. Also, let us know if the issue started after the recent update or if it was the same as in February.
We tried replicating the behavior on our end, and it works fine. It would be helpful if you could share the screen recording of the issue so we can share it with the team.
Thanks,
Meenakshi

Sure, I recorded a Loom for you showing the issue: https://www.loom.com/share/b72bab834a3343058cc4b2c030b432ca?sid=7e6a200d-8974-4a12-9896-6abdd42382f0
I hope everything will be clear, I was trying to find files and folders without any sensitive info.
1. The test_pdf file I opened was stored locally. That showed up on the Recent list without issue.
2. Then I opened a file from Google Drive, like I always do when I'm working, straight from Finder. That didn't show up, even though it was downloaded.
3. When I linked Google Drive and Adobe Acrobat, the same file did show up on the list. Which is strange. I didn't know this "add file storage" feature existed. Still, it would be nice if it wasn't required for files from Google Drive to show up on the list.
This issue started kind of at the end of February. I don't know the exact date or if it was before or after the recent update, sorry. The issue is also present on my Macbook Air which has a previous version of Reader (see my previous post), but that's about all I can say on the matter.

Hey, @Meenakshi Negi, sorry for not tagging you in my previous reply. I've only just noticed that I probably should've done that.

Same exact issue in Acrobat DC on Mac. Started today when it updated to Version 24. I've had more than a dozen PDFs open since then and not a one of them has added to Recents in the desktop app or the web app.

Same here - recent update to Acrobat has stopped my recents list working. No PDFs get added to the recents list since the update. I am on Macbook Pro M1 Pro with Ventura 13.6.6

I am having the same issue. The list of recent files on the Home tab, "Open recent files..." and "Save in recent folder"; the recent files and recent folders are no longer being updated since around mid-March (judging by date last opened on the Acrobat home tab)

I am having the same issue with Acrobat DC on my Mac. Also started toward the end of March - not updating the list of recent directories when using "save as..."
This is a really annoying bug - especially when working with PDFs all day every day. Please investigate and fix?

What is the status of this issue?

Come on Adobe, you have had plenty of time to come up with a fix for this. This is frustrating to say the least.

Clearly there is not enough competition for what Adobe does if they feel they can allow this very basic failure of their product remain in place this long. If we could all switch to something just as good quickly they'd have fixed this in a few hours.

Hi MeenakshiNegi, Since it's been a quite a few months now and the problem affects both Reader and Acrobat, I wondered if there are any updates? With so many people having problems, I don't understand why Adobe can't duplicate the problem and yet I've only seen one request for screen prints from an affected user. Most of us have given the OS platforms/versions of Acrobat/Reader, and file storage we use to help troubleshoot the problem. While Reader is free, many people pay a high subscription for Acrobat and it doesn't seem we're getting any help from Adobe. Can you please let us know the status of the issue and if there is anything we can do to escalate a fix? Thank you for your help.

I mean, I've switched to PDFgear on Mac and PC. That was my solution.

Same issue here - no files are populating the recent files list. This has been going on for several weeks.

Sonoma 14.5 OS
Acrobat Pro
It's annoying and a waste of time to have to find a file and open a file every time I work on it during a given week. Any progress being made toward a solution?

I have tried uninstalling Acrobat Pro (on Mac) and reinstalling version 2024.002.20759, but this did not fix the problem. Nothing shows up in recent files no matter where the file was stored.

I did the same with no resolution. I wish Adobe would provide an update on the status of this problem. Very inconvenient.

I did the same - uninstall, restart, reinstall, restart, rinse, repeat. No luck. For the subscription price, this is getting absurd. [And don't get me started about the gray screen that pops up when I try to sign a PDF using my MacBook. That's a topic for a separate thread...]

I've switched to using PDFGear as recommended by another commenter on here. It works well so far for my needs.
