Hi
We have created an interactive PDF (application form) with form fields for completion by individual users and we have set a character limitation in each field entry. This works perfect for anyone using the latest version of Reader but unfortunately not working on an older version of Reader. Can you advise if there is anything we can do in settings so this is usable in older versions - or would the user need to download the latest version of Reader to use the form correctly (which is my thinking)?
Thank you

What happens when you use a old version?

Hi
The character limitation doesn't work - no bleep warning and the character input continues.

Please give the exact version in use using Help > About Adobe Reader in the exact window where the form is shown. (Don’t switch apps!) If the PDF is actually shown in a different app, for example a browser, please tell us what app that is. Thanks.

Original file exported as an interactive PDF from Indesign 2017 (12.1.0.56), tells us the export is compatible with Acrobat 7 or later.
Working with Acrobat 9 Pro (Mac)
It may well be that we have to add a note to the document telling the user to download the latest version of Reader DC as I see it is a free download.

Hello Freelanced,
Sorry for the delayed response and inconvenience caused. Please ask the users to download and install the latest version of Adobe Reader 11 that is 11.0.23 from the following Adobe URL Overview — Release Notes for Legacy Acrobat Products and see if this brings any difference.
Note: Acrobat 11 is already declared as an end of support product, End of Support means that Adobe no longer provides technical support or distributes runtimes. This policy affects product and security updates for all derivatives of a product or product version (localized versions, minor upgrades, operating systems, dot and double-dot releases, and connector products).
For detailed information, please refer to End of support for Adobe Acrobat XI and Reader XI
Adobe does not recommend to install and use the older version of Adobe Reader or Acrobat. Will request you to ask the users to switch to the latest version of Adobe Reader DC, download it from the Adobe URL Adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Distribution
Feel free to update this discussion for any further assistance.
Regards,
Anand Sri.
