Free version of Acrobat literally won't open

New Here ,
Nov 19, 2024 Nov 19, 2024

The issue began a couple of weeks ago when I started getting an internal error.  I did the uninstall, reinstall thing.  Now, Adobe won't even open.  When I click on a PDF or click on the program, I'll get a white full-screen window for a few seconds, then it vanishes.  I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling, tried editing the registry when it claimed another copy of Adobe was already opened as I tried to open a PDF.

Nothing at all has worked.

I did exactly what you said.  Nothing changed.  Even though I cancelled my free trial so I wouldn't keep getting prompted to install the subscription features.

@DirtDiver09 Can you share a screenshot of the feature you are referring to?

More like a difference in what you see in other apps compared to Acrobat?

From the screenshots you have been sharing, I cannot figure out what feature you are referring to.

I cannot share a screenshot because the menu has changed.  I followed your steps. but the menu doesn't change.   As I've said before, in the past, there was an option in the free version of Acrobat to copy file to clipboard.  As in, you copy the image to the clipboard.  I would do this to make pictures for my business.  But this version of Acrobat doesn't have the feature.  The only thing I know to try would be uninstalling then reinstalling the free version, but I'm scared that something would get corrupted again.

@DirtDiver09

Can you try pressing the Windows key + V to see if the Clipboard is enabled?

If not, you should see an option to "Turn On" the feature (screenshot attached)

Yes, the clipboard is on because the copy & paste feature works in everything else BUT Acrobat.  But just to humor you, I did what you instruted anyway.  The clipboard history is off, but the clipboard is on.  The issue is with Adobe Acrobat, why you can't you acknowledge this?   I still think I need to uninstlall the program but again, I'm scared of something getting not uninstalled and corrupted when I try to re-download the free version.

@DirtDiver09 I tried the entire workflow, and it worked for me.

So, trying to understand if this is actually an issue with Acrobat or a Windows feature that needs to be enabled/disabled.

I am adding a screen recording of the entire event for reference.

Let me know if this is what you are referring to.

Also, can you make a similar screen recording and share it with me here? You can use the keys "Winddows+Shift+R" to do the same.

Thanks,

Souvik

1. I have 0 idea what you're talking about.  2. Do you not listen to what I actually say?  I told you,. copy & paste works fine everywhere else BUT in Adoe Acrobat.  I sent you a screenshot to demonstrate that even after I tried to turn off the new Acrobat, I didn't turn off.  Give me a good reason why I shouldn't try uninstalling with the cleaner and reinstalling as opposed to you not listening to what I say and suggesting things that aren't even remotely correct.
