How do I find out when a PDF doc was originally created there is nothing under File/Properties

Hi David,

Generally, it is shown under document properties window in Acrobat (As shown in the following snapshot).

However, if the sender/Author has removed metadata from the pdf then there are chances that original file creation date is not displayed.

Hi do you know a company that could tell when a PDF was originally created? I use the steps that were mentioned above and it tells me the date that I downloaded it

This information can't be relied on. It's child's play to manipulate it to any value one wishes.

Yes but I really need to find out the date of this document that it was created of modified

Just a note that the metadata is easy to fake. It may be interesting to investigate but could carry no evidential weight if anyone had motivation to fake it.

For actual proof of date, digital signatures are needed - and not just any digital signatures as some rely on the computer's own clock.

This is a legal case against a defendant who will not cooperate.  She has a date in there of April 7 2015 but I suspect it was created yesterday 8/20/2015
