How do I get Adobe Reader DC to not open a file if I print from context menu?

I will often print documents (various file types) from my Windows 10 context menu. Normally they are just sent to my (wireless) printer, but when I print a PDF file from my context menu, I find that Adobe Reader DC will open it up for a few seconds, before/while sending it to the printer. This is an annoyance as it keeps me from doing whatever else I was doing. Is there any way to turn this "feature" off?

You cannot. Adobe Reader uses a lot of common commands for various actions that use the exact same code for the action triggered from different selections. Printing can be triggered from the menu bar, a button field within a form, or a tool bar button. To allow this action to occur without user intervention would allow for the possibility of someone to embed some malicious code within a PDF and print that form and it's data to any printer or file on a network or internet. This type of printing is known a "silent printing". Also network printing has been available for a number of decades.
