How do I stop a shareable link to a pdf from redirecting to a website?

Back story:

I wrote an article. It got published.

Then I created a pdf showing the article. Next, I created a shareable link to the pdf on Google Drive.

I want those who click the link to the article to be able to open the pdf and download it. (Not) be redirected to the website where the article is published.

But ... when the link is clicked, instead of opening up as a downloadable pdf, it redirects automatically to the website where the article is published. My guess is because the Google spider/bot/crawler is scanning the contents of the pdf and recognizes where it "lives" on the web.

How do I stop this redirection? That is, how do I get the sharable link to click-through to my downloadable pdf?

Have you run into this yourself? If so, I appreciate any help you can give me.

This doesn't really have anything to do with Adobe. You should ask at a forum about Google products...
