How to save an XML file attached to a PDF document?

New Here ,
Jun 26, 2024 Jun 26, 2024

I have a PDF bank statement with an attached XML file.

In the totally useless new Acrobat Reader I see a file icon but can only edit the link in the remark view (why would anyone edit that???)

Turning off this crystallized uselessnes, the old Adobe Reader denies to open the XML file saying that the Gold Standard Of Data Transfer A Plain Text File is dangerous to my computer (while Adobe turns on both Javascript and the New Acrobat Reader, the known dangers to computers and productivity) in this quite useful dialog:

See how this masterpiece decoded the filename.

How to turn off this braindead censorship?

I would share the version of the Acrobat Reader with you, but there is no About menu item in the Help menu...

PS: Workaround: Firefox saves the attachment without a word.
