Hi, I used to be able to use my finger to scroll down on a PDF document on my touch screen laptop and second screen, I now cant do this. Any idea's how to fix
I don't know if you're still looking for help. I was having this exact same issue and realized I couldn't find the toolbar I was looking for. There is a pop up menu that comes up from the bottom of a PDF document that I can't for the life of me figure out how to consistently make come up, but, if you put your finger on the screen and make the "right click" menu come up, you'll see at the top that you probably have the pointer selected as a method of interacting with the document. Right next t

How about the other programs like Microsoft Office? Did they get affected as well six months ago or just the Acrobat Reader program?

In this case, using Adobe Acrobat Reader or Adobe Acrobat Pro should make no difference, although it would be good to test with Adobe Acrobat Pro.
However, if you've already tried the suggestion provided by JR Boulay and it didn't resolve the issue, I would look more into recent Microsoft Windows updates.
In which case, maybe a device driver changed during an unattended Windows update.
If that was the case, try to manually reinstall the touchscreen firmware using the Microsoft Support guidance linked bleow:

setting to Always works but why does Auto-detect not work? Is it a recognised defect?
I am using acrobat reader version, 2022.003.20310 64 bit on Windows 11.

Thanks for posting this - it's been frustrating me for ages! I've 2 different touch screen laptops (HP and a Dell) and both were set to AUTODETECT, which obviously just does not work.
As soon as I switched to ALWAYS.....instant scrolling using touch.
ADOBE should either sort the Autodetect function or remove it and default to Always.
Thanks again

Hope this helps you.

With respect to the toolbar, I can reliably invoke it by either touching ghe screen close to the bottom of the Acrobat screen or by hovering the mouse in that area. I'm not sure exactly what makes it go away but it does, sooner or later. There is a second floating toolbar that puts in an appearance if you touch the side of the page display panel, also close to the bottom of the window. I haven't found a way of invoking it with the mouse, only with the touch screen. If you touch exactly the right place you can get both toolbars. I don't actually know what the second one provides, I'm useless with icons and I don't think I've ever needed it.

Yes, thank you! Such a simple solution, and so different from asking the make and model of the laptop and telling you to reinstall microsoft!

If you're unable to scroll down a PDF document on your touch screen laptop using your finger, you can try a few troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue. First, ensure that your touch screen is functioning correctly by testing it in other applications. If the touch screen is working in other applications but not in the PDF viewer, consider updating your PDF viewer software or trying a different one to see if the issue persists.
Additionally, check for any Windows or driver updates that may be affecting touch screen functionality. You can also try restarting your laptop, as this often resolves temporary issues. If none of these steps work, consult your laptop's user manual or contact customer support for specific guidance on touch screen issues.
