MSVCR110.dll - What version of Visual C++ do I need?

Hi,

When trying to do a word search in Acrobat reader I get the error message that MSVCR110.dll contains an error and that I should reinstall the program. I deinstalled Acrobat reader and reinstalled the latest version but this didn't help. I checked further for a fix and downloaded the

Visual C++ Redistributable für Visual Studio 2012 Update 4

from the Microsft website as recommended. After succesfully installing the correct version for my system I still had the same problem. I have just spoken to a clueless tech support rep from MS who said I should check wih Adobe which version of Visual C++ is required. I assume that the the 2012 update is the current version as this is the latest version on the MS website. Can anyone tell me if Reader should work with this version or if a newer version is needed. If so, which version?

Thanks in advance for your help.

John

Click on the link and download the vc_redist.x64.exe or vc_redist.x86.exe (according to your system configuration).

    Hi Akannchha,

Thanks for your help. No unfortunately it didn't help. It said it installed successfully (see below) but I am still having the same problem.

I tried something else since instaling it. I renamed the original MSVCR110.dll files in system32 and sysWOW64 and then tried to reinstall the program again. First of all I tried the repair option but this didn't work as it didn't load the MSVCR110.dll files. Only the renamed files were in the folders. Then I deinstalled the program and reinstalled it. Same again - it did not load the files although it told me they had been successfully installed. I then downloaded a copy of the dll from the internet (not from MS) and copied it into the two folders. That didn't help either, the original problem still exists.

I don't understand why the download is not installing the dll file.

    Any other ideas?

    John

Thanks for trying all the steps.

I believe the only visual C++  Packager has been missing is Studio 2013.

please try downloading this as well to see if that makes any difference - Download Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013 from Official Microsoft Download Center

    Thanks,
