New icon - what's up with that?

Dear Adobe,

Me and my colleagues have already made a vote. We hate the new icon for PDF files. We know, "hate" is a strong word for it, but that is what we feel right now.

It's white, ugly and I get enraged when I see it. It creates confusion in all my files, like all my documents have been misplaced and I cannot find an order in them.

Why did you had to change it? What was wrong with the previous one?

The red color was more characteristic with the product and I was finding it more related.... that this ghost icon. (argh!!!!!)

Is there any other way I can switch it back? I really really really hate it.

Thank you!

Hi All,

Adobe’s general design for the PDF filetype icon has not changed in nearly 10 years. Looking across our product lines and surfaces like web and mobile, the PDF filetype was becoming out of place in modern operating systems.  The simpler, flat design was selected to compliment modern operating systems with a uniform design approach that scales across desktop, web, and mobile surfaces.

If you file a feature request or want modifications in the existing feature, you use the Adobe Wish form to file a feature request Feature Request/Bug Report Form or can share your feedback here Share your feedback on Acrobat DC

Thanks,

Anand Sri.

I am one more new-icon hater. They just are ugly and hard to find. It really didn't hurt to have a 10-year old icon that everyone could locate and recognize easily. This is NOT an improvement.

Indeed. I have to still work with PS files and I think they are even worse. They blend in with all the other icons I have to sort through way too much.

I couldn't agree more. Bring the old icon and provide icon options! I posted into the ideas list as well under Am I the only one who hates the big white document Icon that came with the last update?

Vote it up!

Florina, you (and others here) have a PM (assuming they don't hack into my user profile and delete the ones I sent - and even if Adobe do, you should have it on email that I actually sent it over).

Sorry to anyone that missed out, if Adobe nuke my account as a result, just share those instructions around by PM and keep the dream alive.

It's sad that a company just can't respect their userbase (and those helping others out).

May as well not even have an Adobe Community, if you are going to overly police it and remove messages from those who are trying to help and offer working and valid solutions to problems your programmers have created.

I've got no subscriptions tied to this account (not my company account), but a roughly $50k software contract with Adobe that my Account Manager is fearing he's about to lose over this stupidity (due to the change of the icon, the cost of downtime/rectification to the business, and the severe lack of respect shown by Adobe Community moderators to remove users posts who are just trying to assist others).

If your programmers don't know how to rectify the issue for good, it's simple.

In ACRORD32.EXE and ACROBAT.EXE simply include the original icon (and make that default).

In circumstances where people want the icon changed (and I'm sure nobody asked for it to be changed), then they have that option available to them via the EXE file.

Don't force the majority into an issue that impacts a minority.

Whilst I agree it was due an overhaul/change, this simply is a hideous icon. I'm not sure how it looks to other people but 15 out of 15 work colleges agree the old style was better. Perhaps an integration of the Old and New style?

Yep, I agree.  This just looks awful.  Sorry Adobe.  I'm surprised this is the image you would use.  It looks dated and there is now so much bright red and white on my desktop it makes me want to hide all my files even more.

Yes! Myself and my colleagues all agree! Also, the file list of recently opened files is now SO DIFFICULT to read. Arrgh!

Hello Florina,

Thank for sharing your valuable feedback. As of now, it is not possible to roll-back to the previous PDF icon.

We will highly appreciate if you can  file a feature/change request using the Adobe wish form Feature Request/Bug Report Form

Thanks,

Anand Sri.

I despise this inconsentual change as well.
It looks like a .exe program icon for something that does something, instead of the friendly page that I have become accustomed to seeing for years.
Does anyone have a screenshot of the old logo?
I can't remember what it looks like, only what it doesn't look like.
