new update "2019" looking for share button work around.

New Here ,
Oct 04, 2018 Oct 04, 2018

With the new update of Reader DC "2019" a few days ago, the Email/Share button function changed.  Instead of just opening you default email program, it now opens a share menu and added a lot of clicks to sending the pdf via email.

on Oct 3rd i came across a registry key fix for this. it worked great. but since i added that key i had to uninstall and reinstall Reader DC a few time (printing issues).  now i cannot find the post or page is saw the registry key fix.  if anyone out there knows where i can find it please let me know.

thank you

Hi Rfronz1

Please try steps at: How to use the email icon to directly send file as attachment and let us know if it helps.

Hi Rfronz,

The new unified Share experience empowers you to easily collaborate on documents across desktop, mobile, and web. Share a link to a PDF to view or comment on it. Or send it as an attachment.

For detailed information about the new features, you may refer to Adobe article What's new in Adobe Acrobat DC

We highly appreciate your valuable feedback to request a new feature or modifications in existing feature by filling the Adobe Feature request form Feature Request/Bug Report Form

Thanks,

Anand Sri.

Hi Aandi,

As of now, there is no option to disable/turn it off.

Thanks,

This is not going to work for Enterprise like us.   We don't want users to have option to share/email to webmail and we need a way to disable the Share button via GPO.

but there is a reg key you can add to make it default to open you email without going through all the share options.  i used it the day after the update but after i tried reinstalling Reader DC i now cannot find the post/page i originally found it on.  AAARGGGHHH. it is out there but lost to me now.

Hi,

The registery workaround is unacceptable. I am not going to edit the registery of every user on the network. It is simple have the 2 buttons email is email and a second for sharing. We use email pdf constantly inhouse as well as externally abd this has just created confusion for my users and extra steps in the process. way to go adobe.

The new unified Share experience empowers you…

Um, no…you haven't 'empowered' anyone! Quite the contrary in fact, you're dis-empowering users by forcing them through a series of extra steps to achieve what was previously possible with a single click.

Moreover, there is already a prominent big blue 'Share' button, so why did you need to hijack the envelope button to have it do the exact same thing? There is no logical reason for this change and our users are not at all happy about it. In fact I've had to install Foxit for some of them, because they don't have time to be drilling down through share options every time they want to email a pdf document somewhere.

Please restore the envelope button to how it was before.

It works.  Can Adobe also provide a way to disable that blue "Share" button?

Yes, it would be nice to be able to disable the way too big "Share" button, that is taking way too much toolbar space. I don't need it and I can hide/show all the other tools/buttons, why not this one?

yes, I can confirm this fixes the problem.  question, will this reg edit stay in place if adobe gets updated?

Just my 2 cents..  can this option be added in the Adobe preferences in future updates and also the ability to disable the Share.

Thanks

please let me know if anyone finds a fix to this,  reg fix or if Adobe pushes out an update to fix this.  I too regularly use the email function constantly at the office with invoicing,  the added steps to have Adobe reader open outlook is very annoying
