Option to change the Arrow head color fill is missing

Community Beginner ,
May 18, 2023 May 18, 2023

Hi,

After some update of Adobe Reader i can't find anymore option to change arrow head color fill in comment tools. It used to be in line properties next to outline color/type options on the right sight of properties window. Now i see only option to change color fill of arrow and text field, that is common for them, in tool that have arrow and text box.

Right now it is filled with blue color at one PC, at other one is red and at third one is transparent...

I have no clue where to find that option...

Hi Shamoth,

Thank you for reaching out.

When you say, "option to change arrowhead color fill in comment tools." we are unsure about the tool you refer to here. Could you please share the screenshot and explain where the option used to be? It will be helpful.

Also, share the current application and OS version you are using.

In the meantime, you may refer to the following help document on the comment tools in Acrobat: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/commenting-pdfs.html

Check if that helps.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

Windows 10 Pro 21H2 19044.2965

Adobe Acrobat Reader 2023.001.20174 64bit

Arrow head color fill option used to be somewhere where red retangle is.

So im left with blue fill, friend got it locked to green and other one after installing fresh Reader just got reansparent fill  and no option to change it.

Shamoth_0-1685342364488.png

Option used to be just like in text field with arrow, where i can change outline and fill color.

So, where in current version i can change simple arrow fill color?

Hi Shamoth,

Thank you for sharing the screenshot.

In the screenshot, both the properties windows are different. Could you please confirm how this arrow and the field in which the option to color change is available are created?

Share the sample PDFs with us on both the images shown in the screenshot are added.

Share the current Acrobat Reader and OS version.

We will share the information with the team to get this checked.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

Meenakshi,

I have the same issue. The attached pdf was created in 2021 using Adobe ACrobat DC Pro/Windows 10 Pro. We were able to changte the fill colors of the arrow. Now I'm on windows 11 pro using a new laptop and the fill color option is no longer available with the arrows. You can only change the outline.

Thanks

Ron

Ihave exactly the same issue. When creating an arrow using Comment; Drawing Tools; Arrow. it is impossible to edit the 'fill' colour of the arrow (in my example it is orange and cannot find anywhere to edit this colour) As

mentioned by others it used to have an option to alter the 'fill' colour as well as the 'line' colour - This option has dissapeared - running the latest version (see below)

And yes, probably i can change color at other software f.e. in hexeditor if i knew how but thats not the point...

arrow.pdf is from my PC where arrowhead colorfill is locked to blue

arrow1.pdf is from friend PC where arrowhead colorfill is locked to red

arrow2.pdf is from friend PC where arrowhead colorfill cant be changed and is transparent

In terms of a fix, for me personally (I am sure others could contribute) I do not need a 'fill' option on the arrow tool - I am not sure when I would use it! I simply want the arrow to be one solid colour which is determined by the 'line' colour. I di not know anything about software coding but surely the experts at Adobe can make the 'fill' colour correspond to the line colour (no need for a separate user control for the fill (although that ultimately may useful to others) - could this be a simpler fix??

Actually its usefull option to separate outline and fill color simply beause of many colors of backround that comment is used on. Also i cant image to use text box with arrow with unified color, what leads to same color of text box outline and backround. It would make balck or any color outline and white bacground with black text imposible to achive. Also, that option was present for years, so its really wierd that it takes so long to find that part of already written code and inject it, with slight modification if needed...

I agree but at the moment it's impossible alter the fill colour anyway so by at least having the fill default to line colour may suit a majority of users short term until this 'extremely complex' 😉 coding issue resolves 'fill' control!!

Meenakshi,

Are they working on the issue? It was a feature for years, and fill can be performed with other shapes. Not like Adobe is trying to invent the wheel.

I just received my billing update that Adobe is raising their rates 30% for monthly pro subsciptions.

Meenakshi,

Be honest, are they actually going to fix this issue in Adobe Pro?

If it's on DC, and was available before, it's not rocket science to put it back

This has been a feature for many years and and update broke it this year. It's been at least since May 2023 & now it's the middle of August. Any update on when this will be fixed? This "enhancement" wasn't.

They should just put it back the way it was. Adobe is going down. First, they removed the ability to have the creative software on your computer anymore so that they can be in your pocket INDEFINITELY like another bill. I wouldn't be surprised if they intended to charge for the ability to make the arrowhead the same or a different color. 😡

I'm looking for an alternative PDF editor. I have given up with Adobe.

The functionality is frustrating and it is far from user friendly. It is taking me twice as long to mark up drawings with comments.

I'm stunned at the reply that doesn't understand your question!!

I am having exactly the same problem. The functionality is poor and on top of that, every time I use the pan command it defaults to a selct and a blue box appears.

Not so user friendly.
