Reader's installation stuck at 90% and exits with an error

When trying to install Adobe Reader from https://get.adobe.com/reader/otherversions (Windows 11, Language German, 64 Bit distro), installtion gets stuck at 90%

and then exits with a generic error:

 

Things tried:
1.  Installing directly from Adobe's website after pausing Antivirus and Firewall (Internet connection is stable)
2. Making sure that JS is activated in the browser and installing again
3.  Running the installer in compatibility mode with administrator rights

4. Running Adobe Cleaner (No installation found), deleting the folder C:\\Users\<username>\AppData\Adobe manually and then restarting the computer and installing Reader again.

Hello,

 

I went through the same exact problem. My solution was to preform an inplace upgrade. Basically re-installing Windows 11. The problem may have occured when installing windows for the first time so doing this may fix your problem.

If that doesnt work, possibly a VPN or security app may be halting the download process. Unsure about that but worth exploring.

If you are still experiencing the issue, let us know whether it is your personal or work machine.

Try creating a new user account on the machine and check if you can install Acrobat Reader.

I had the same problem and tried everything,  Right clicking and running as admin did NOT work, nor did compatibility mode.  HERE'S WHAT WORKED:

 

Open a command prompt:

C:\temp\> runas /user:YOURDOMAIN\your.admin.acct  Adobe_en_Setup.exe
