Hey, I need to work with Adobe Reader to fill some documents on my macbook.

Now the page on safari doesn't open. I recieve the message

The document you are trying to load requires Adobe Reader 8 or higher. You may not have the Adobe Reader installed or your viewing environment may not be properly configured to use Adobe Reader.

I have the newest version from adobe reader, but it doesn't work.

Can some help me?

Open the file in Acrobat Reader DC. Don't open the file in Safari!

Hi @ogboko_7455,

Hope you are doing well. Thanks for writing in!

As correctly mentioned by try67, the file is an immigration form created through Designer 6.2.

This is a PDF form with the XFA-architecture, which requires the desktop version of Acrobat/Reader to view or fill the form.

The architecture and the metadata of such files are so complex, that basic web browsers or PDF viewers are not able to render the contents of the file, thus the error message (screenshot of description attached).

Hope this clarifies your question.

Regards,
Souvik.

I have the same problem. I'm using Windows 10 and get the exact same reply when I try to open a file that I created last year. The file is for a financial form called an FBAR from this government website: https://bsaefiling.fincen.treas.gov/NoRegFBARFiler.html. Obviously I filled out the form last year because I have a pdf of the file that doesn't gives the same response when I try to open it. I can provide a copy of the file if that would help.

I guess I'm getting desperate - making too many errors. The error message when I try to open the year old file is: "

Please wait...

If this message is not eventually replaced by the proper contents of the document, your PDF
viewer may not be able to display this type of document.

You can upgrade to the latest version of Adobe Reader for Windows®, Mac, or Linux® by
visiting http://www.adobe.com/go/reader_download.

For more assistance with Adobe Reader visit http://www.adobe.com/go/acrreader"

I attached a copy of the file. It says 2020 was created in tax season in 2021.

What if you upgrade to Adobe Acrobat Pro? Does it open in Chrome or Edge?

"What if you upgrade to Adobe Acrobat Pro? Does it open in Chrome or Edge?"

No, it does not. You can't solve this by paying for things, because the browsers don't allow it any more. You have to download and open in Reader (or in Acrobat if you have it).

What if you have a chromebook? How does that work? Asking for myself

If it has a Chromebook, or an iPhone or iPad or Android device, you need to get it to a Mac or Windows computer, and open it in Acrobat Reader DC.
